Not only does the Peoria Riverfront Museum offer a broad scope for a museum, the skilled members of the union building trades installed solar panels, recycled flooring, and many other materials and processes to ensure an the facility was an environmentally modern facility, which earned a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification. For example, the water and drainage system flow not into the sanitary district, but rather to a bioswell system. The runoff from the roof go back into the ground.
